shawn osullivan of up and coming new york new wave bands led er est and further reductions, brings us the latest release on wt. the easiest description would be drop bass network meets berghain dub techno meets the new sound of amsterdam with a little bit of acid and industrial sprinkled in, but you should listen to the clips yourself to decide. shawn takes synths, drummachines, a sequencer and some effects and records one take on a stereo track. this leaves room for wild mistakes, personal moments, and blown out sound. its a classic techno sound that sounds like it should have been done before, but hasnt.

after a break from releasing new material while he concentrated on developing the freerotation electronic music festival, mindtours label boss steevio is back with a 4 track ep of live improvised modular music. modular techno vol 1 is four tracks of raw, deep, jazz tinged, freeform, analogue minimal electronics, all sequencing and sound manipulation was jammed live on steevios modular synthesizer, without the use of a computer, or eq / compression / mastering or any other processing in a deliberate attempt to capture a live electronic music performance directly to vinyl.

die letzte fsoj vol. 11 ist schon fünf jahre her, die erste kam 1995 raus. ich habe das gefühl die zeit dreht zurück. ein bischen erinnern mich die tracks - vor allem die langsamen stücke, wie so mancher sound - an die ersten >future sounds of jazz< compilations. ich kann sagen, ich hatte eine gewisse leerstelle von 2007 bis ende 2010, sah weder die notwendigkeit, noch hatte ich lust empfunden, eine neue fsoj zu machen. es gab seit 2007 schon den ein oder anderen tollen track, aber nicht genug, um gleich eine compilation daraus zu zimmern. zugegeben war ich, wie viele andere, mehr dem disco-, edit- und deep house-fieber verfallen. bin ich immer noch, aber die musik fusioniert wieder stärker mit den vibes, die ich für fsoj suchte.
es begann in 2010, festigte sich in 2011, ein déjà-vu ritt mich plötzlich, der viel beschworene zeitgeist wehte wieder. haufenweise gute tracks, interessante projekte, die von der Ästhetik, vom sound und feeling den frühen 90ern, oder meinem gutdünken ihre reminiszenzen aufwiesen. immerhin sind seit der vol. 1 schon zwei generationen nachgewachsen, sagt man doch, daß alle sieben jahre eine neue generation entsteht. ich denke, die jüngeren projekte (z.b.: lo tide aus australien, anchorsong und ragout delapin beides projekte aus japan, scrimshire, letherette, laszlo, sepalcure, eden) die hier vertreten sind, spiegeln das eindrücklich wieder.

arne weinberg aka onmutu mechanicks returns to echocord colour after his debut album on echocord in late 2011 with three new cuts of dub influenced deep techno. expect the trademark onmutu mechanicks beat science combined with delay and reverb drenched synthwork spiraling down into your mind. the title track phosphor also gets a remix treatment from norman nodge who turns this into a real berlin techno dancefloor stomper that will please both the djs and the crowds.

grinch presents a collection of deep productions with dark, spaced-out tone, for his first solo ep. the title track sets the mood with a minimal, devilish bouncing shimmer, that grows into a subby monster in no time. the vibe changes with pulling teeth dropping us into a spacious ambience, with ghost tones of varying frequencies. on the flip, genjutsu, a heart pumping rhythm with knife edge minimal percussion. the final tune, 1:45am is reminiscent of a dark sci-fi nightmare scene and followed by waking up in a terrifying, cold sweat. together the tracks teeter along the lines of techno with dubstep influences.

really exited about this one, ana helder from argentina (comene) delivered here an nice and freaky oldschool mid tempo track,so nice.the first remix is by astro labs home cat timothy j fairplay, something between carpenter and andrew weatherall.then on the b side ivan smagghes remix is just amazing with some old synth and techno atmosphere. last one is frank west,our second collaboration,he turns the song into a solid booty dub song.

long waited 4th ep from japanese deep house force pan records is here. unlike precious releases, this is volume 1 of its various artist sampler series. all 3 of them are scheduled to be released in 2012. first track to open the series is >flash back< by sai. this japanese producer has been favored and debuted from morris audio in 2010. the track has dreamy and floating feel to start off with, later it gets more grove going with subtle vocal goes behind. stays musical yet feels minimal, a2 also kept the vibe from a1 and makes you stay in the dreamland. it is by only the non-japanese artist on this wax, dennis uprock aka resoe from denmark. he is the owner of baum records and one half of the duo >pattern repeat< and this rather timeless track exactly demonstrated his years of experience in producing. >future progress<, is true and honest to its name. dj pi-ge is one of the owner of the label along side of ryo murakami and sisi. he provides a track with punchy synth and revered black man’s vocal. notably slow teasing build up from the beginning till the end, this is an interesting addition to the ep. attention grabbing. last of all, >rising moon< is by tokyo based artist naoki shinohara, previously released from xdbs metrolux music. this track can be described by strong hart beat like hi hats and soul filling melody. its a perfect closer to this quality deep house ep from the land of rising sun.

sometimes things turn out different than planned. that also applies for remixes one does for other labels: >the lost remixes< features two personal favourite remixes by sascha dive, now seeing a release on vinly for the first time. side a offers a gentle & laid-back remix for neggheads >being< that warms-up every dance-floor just like a sweet summer breeze. sascha dives remix for the basil classic >time to be free (free world)< on side b is a lot more four to the floor and with its almost epic groove yet proven another track that you’ll hear in clubs at any time of the night. listen up!

never ones to stand still dons rainbow marks a quantum leap for seahawks, the first release on new label ocean moon and the first recording from the invisible sunrise sessions. invisible sunrise is the forthcoming album from seahawks and the first to be recorded with live musicians rather than a hard drive full of dusty old samples. the results are stunningly original, not least on this track with new york head autre ne veut. anvs debut album last year on olde english spelling bee was an incredible rush of warped r&b, 80s synths, amazing songs and what has to be one of the most innovative voices to emerge in the last 5 years. since then hes released a great ep on hippos in tanks, played some mind bending live shows and guested on the ford & lopatin album. dons rainbow sounds like michael mcdonalds sweet freedom crossed with nite flight era walker brothers. a fantastic piece of hazy avant pop with jan hammer pulse wave synths, yah mo b there drums and fuzz drenched spirals of soprano sax and guitar colliding with the sound of soul from outer space. on the flip the dub takes the track into a world of shadows, where smeared washes of sound swim in an ocean of decay. as always with seahawks releases the packaging is beautiful. heavyweight vinyl in a full colour sleeve, with full colour labels. the last seahawks release sold out in days, we expect this one to do the same, so get your skates on!

atlanta producer distal teams up with vancouvers hxdb for >booyant<, an absolutely killer collaboration that fuses the best elements of both producers in fine style. taking a 136bpm tempo and bridging dubstep with a cutting edge bass-heavy house vibe, the duo pull together an intimate dancefloor bubbler that fans of night slugs and swamp 81 will most likely feel quite at home with. awash with lush synths and gurgling sound bytes, >booyant< is a quality track to tickle many a fancy. flip to side aa for distals solo effort >amphibian<, an excellent piece of 140bpm machine music, whirring and clicking in a roughly similar vein to instra:mentals >rift zone<. experimental dubstep pressure for the open minded, guaranteed future-proof. distal will release his debut album >civilization< on tectonic later in the spring of 2012.

this release is first new mule musiq. catalogue number was jumped up to 147 ... barnt is cologne based producer which is known as a member of magazine (artist&label). we really loved barnt 12 inch and magazine stuff on their label and very happy new barnt 12 inch is released on mule musiq. original on a side is like a dark house remix of goblin (italian progressive rock band). if you like dubby techno sound like echospace or redshape, you will into this track very easily. on b side, one of the best artist at the moment vakula made warm deep house remix. its not necessary bla bla ... about vakula sound. ambient version is lovely bonus track.

second release in the delsin x-dsr series containing re-issues of personal favourites. m.k.s the mkappella was originally a track on the b-side of the very original version of his huge burning ep on the area 10 label. the mkappella is some original innocent deep sunset house. other side contains the adventurous lost by the 7th plain aka luke slater, taken from his debut album the 4 cornered room way back from 1994, the high days of the uk techno scene, with lot of hints towards the original detroit sound.

raymundo mendoza delivers a trippy space alien tech house track with remixes by someone else and nigel richards. deep builds and a funky bassline are the root of this el paso djs track. someone else brings a nice dubbed percussive remix and nigel does a housey bump mix to complete the project. 611, established in 1993, is back.

the dirty dutch! anticlub a notorious collective from eindhoven, the southern capital of holland, was inspired to push itself into a new direction. the inspiration came from a painting by an old lady that drew the attention and gave the impulse to create the album freaks and followers. as the title suggests there are two kinds of people, people who take risks and people who do not. as anticlub used to be a risk-taker but slowly settled in an unwanted comfort zone, this created dissatisfaction and led to a creative standstill. seeing the painting everything became clear again. one should not stand still but keep moving and evolve oneself into new areas that one has not yet explored creatively. as lessismore is from the same dutch city, this state of mind also hit the lessismore label, which inevitable resulted in both parties joining forces to release this diverse album by a former underground techno crew called anticlub. as the lessismore label is known for its typically styled techno, lessismore was searching for a new impulse sound wise and visually, to ensure creative satisfaction in the years to come. with this album everything came together and the lessismore crew reunited to renew their input into the label, which was once founded to be a creative platform and an artistic journey and in retrospective clearly not a platform where one should repeat itself time after time. freaks and followers is an 8 track album with raw electronic based music combined with a variety of vocal work by different new anticlub members. the overall feel of the album is a dark punky attitude that reminds of the good old days of rave, which in the early nineties dominated the dutch club and party scene. this period can be defined as being careless and not taking credibility into account, trying new things, being blunt and just partying your hart out. being older this is a feeling that will never have to die, proved by the old lady whose painting was used as the art-work of the album release.
